Event description
This presentation, by Dr. Motao Zhu, will provide an overview of the epidemiology of cellphone-related distracted driving.

About this Event

Given the ubiquitous nature of cellphones, cellphone-related distracted driving has become a prevalent traffic safety concern with devastating consequences for road users of all ages. Control strategies (education, policy intervention, and technological approaches) will be discussed in the context of reducing and preventing cellphone-related distracted driving behaviors and traffic injuries.

This talk will be given by School of Public Health graduate Motao Zhu, MD, MS, PhD, class of 2008. He is an associate professor of pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. With doctoral training in epidemiology and medicine, and active research for the past 14 years, Dr. Zhu is well versed in travel behaviors and transportation injuries. He has received multiple NIH and CDC grants to conduct research in cell phone use while driving, teen driving, and traffic policy and has published in a number of high impact journals.
