Event description

Description

To promote the opportunities for our youngest learners to interact with text, teachers need to be intentional about the environments they create. In this session, participants will create plans for providing a literacy-rich environment

that includes time for dramatic play and literacy-based centers appropriate for the Pre-K classroom. In addition,

participants will explore how combining learning and play supports early learners’ development.

Learning Outcomes:

• Create a classroom plan that builds a literacy-rich environment

• Plan opportunities for dramatic play that promote initiative, exploration, flexible thinking,

attentiveness, persistence, and social interactions

• Plan centers that support the independent use of early literacy skills in reading and writing

• Develop a plan to collect classroom data and to support teachers
