Event description

Description

Two-Day Seminar with Professor Daniel Mills, Lincoln University, United Kingdom

This seminar represents a unique opportunity for applied behaviour practitioners, veterinarians and veterinary technicians to meet and learn from one the world’s leading academics on companion animal behavior. The seminar will present the latest research on dog cognition and emotion as well as how these findings can be applied in clinical practice. The goal is not only to improve our understanding of dog behavior, but to ensure we safeguard dogs’ well-being.

Topics include:

  • A systematic procedure for differential Dx of emotion, and why this matters
  • Attachment, anxiety, dysfunctional relationships and separation disorders
  • Puppy development, including triage – what is time-sensitive and what is not, later emotional maturation, and a review of the Bar Harbor literature
  • Pheromones: what they are and how to properly use them
  • Use of psychotropics
  • The wolf vs. dog and social dominance debates

Presented once on the East Coast and once on the West Coast by The Academy for Dog Trainers.
