The Effects are a high-energy ska and reggae band that originally got together in Phoenix, Arizona in the late ‘70’s. Propelled by the amazing vocals and drums of Bucko Reed, the band played played to crowds all over the southwest US for years and released several albums and opened shows for some of the biggest reggae acts in the world. Audiences found that sitting still was impossible.Reforming in 2015 with almost the same lineup, the band members found that they were able to recapture the original energy and spontaneity of the earlier years. The bands’s material consists of Jamaican reggae songs, songs from the English second-wave ska bands, and many reggae and ska originals, mostly penned by Luke Skood. Nobody in the Effects is afraid to say anything. The Effects:- Shadrach Powell – the best roots bass player in Arizona, who still spends a lot of his stage time in the air.- Luke Skood on keyboards, vocals, and songwriting.- Derric Butler on drums with that lewd, pulsating rhythm.- Kirk Hawley on guitar.
