About this Event

All early-career scholars, including graduate students, with a research or teaching interest in early modern philosophy are invited.

This casual event will be an opportunity to meet new people, and catch up with friends and contacts, in a year where professional social occasions (dinners, receptions, parties, etc.) have been scarce. Graduate students at all stages are especially welcome.

Thank you to the nearly fifty people, from more than a dozen countries, who have registered so far!

Join us by clicking “Select a Time”.

There will be two ninety-minute Zoom sessions, to include as many time zones as we can:

Saturday, April 24, 1-2:30pm Eastern Time

Saturday, April 24, 8-9:30pm Eastern Time

Note that this is April 25 in the Asia-Pacific region.

To register for both sessions, register for one of them and select "Both sessions" during registration.

We can’t do this without your support. Please invite one or two people you know. If you’re on Twitter, retweet our tweet.

What will the mixer be like?

We will have several small-group conversations (2-4 people). After each session, there will be an afterparty where people can mingle freely.

Why only early-career scholars?

While we hope to offer larger events in the future, this first event prioritizes less-established scholars interested in early modern philosophy, understood in the broadest possible way. That includes independent scholars, people who study texts that are borderline philosophy or borderline early modern, and people interested in teaching early modern philosophy but who do not research it.
