Event Details

Chronicling the Life and Legacy of the late Richard Holbrooke

The Diplomat, an HBO documentary film, will be shown beginning at 5:30 PM.  The Diplomat tells the remarkable story of the life and legacy of Ambassador Richard Holbrooke '62, LLD '97 hon., whose singular career spanned fifty years of American foreign policy - from Vietnam to Afghanistan.  Told through the perspective of his eldest son, David, the documentary takes you behind the scenes of high stakes where peace is waged and wars are ended.  The film is being released in 2015, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Holbrooke's crowning acheivement: the Dayton Peace Accords which ended the war in Bosnia.

Immediately following (approx. 7:15 PM), a discussion will be held featuring the film's director, David Holbrooke P'18, journalist David Rohde '90, LITD '10 hon., and Director of the Watson Institute, Richard Locke.  Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is sponsored by the Watson Institute for International Studies.
