The City of Colorado Springs was originally conceptualized as Fountain Colony. Fountain Colony was the centerpiece of William J. Palmer's vision of a Southern Colorado mining, industry and general commerce empire. Palmer needed help however, so he recruited his most trusted associate, Henry McAllister, to assist in building that empire.
In this presentation, Mr. Metzger will examine the actions that led up to the development of Fountain Colony and Henry McAllister's role in the bourgeoning population center at the confluence of Monument and Fountain creeks.
