Event description
The Detention Lottery is a deeply moving play set in an immigration detention center based on real experience of Seattle immigration lawyers

About this Event

The Detention Lottery is a dynamic play with script developed by immigration attorney Margaret O’Donnell of Global Law Advocates PLLC. Immigration attorneys will play the roles of attorneys, judges, ICE officers, and guards. Randomly selected volunteers from the audience will play roles of detainees and their family members.

Join us for this in-depth look at the detention processes of ICE officers, and courtroom proceedings based on real experiences of immigration attorneys in Seattle. Our goal is to promote greater understanding of our immigration enforcement system, and to empower participants to stand up for immigrant protections and rights.

A talk back with Q&A will follow the performance.

The Detention Lottery will be performed on May 8, 2019 at Temple Beth Am in Seattle.

Light refreshments will be available at 6:30, and the program will begin at 7:00.

There is no charge, but donations will be collected to benefit the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) Fair Fight Bond Fund
