Event description

Description

Dear Citizens and Other Americans,

Rick Thomas is an alumnus of the Second City Mainstage. He is a lawyer who used to do trials. He is a professor at UIC. And he has a touch of the poet. He always had a hard time reconciling what he was. Pick one! Then he started writing a blog. And he realized he didn't have to choose. He could just do all of those things as one thing. Be funny and analytical and poetic and teach at the same time. Be Rick, or at least the best Rick.

Then Donald Trump and his mob happened. The personification of all that is wrong with America. And a touching thing happened. Other Americans --- good people --- really started loving the American idea and each other. They learned how much they cared when they were threatened by such crazy evil.

The blog turned into a podcast and blog, and the podcast and blog got married and had a baby --- the stage show, "The Death of a Nation."

Tom Gianas, a noted director of this type thing ... "Michael Moore Live", Sarah Silverman's "Jesus is Magic", Bob Oedenkirk in "Half My Face is a Clown" started to direct Rick. Wow.

Devin Godzicki, a fine musician and teacher started to play the music. Wow.

BrilliancePR came in and did publicity and much, much more. Wow. Now the show was much more than Rick. Other people. Wow.

Now the show needs you, the audience. Keep it real. Keep hope alive. Preserve the American heart and soul.

Theater starts with friends talking. In person --- to each other. So does a new nation. We have all sorts of sources of information about what is going on. Human spaces not as much.

Social media is fine, but go through this horror and joy next to other warm bodies.

Not punditry. Humanity.

Come to the wake and the christening.

"The Death of a Nation."

Your friend,

Rick (Yeah I wrote in the third person. Sue me.)
