Thomas L. Friedman is an internationally renowned author, reporter, and columnist; recipient of three Pulitzer Prizes; and author of six best-selling books including From Beirut to Jerusalem, The World Is Flat and Hot, Flat, and Crowded. Friedman’s foreign affairs column in The New York Times, which he has written since 1995, reports on US domestic politics and foreign policy, Middle East conflicts, international economics, environment, biodiversity, and energy. He has been with The New York Times since 1981.

Daniel Pearl, The Wall Street Journal South Asia Bureau Chief based in Mumbai and Stanford alumnus, was murdered in 2002 while investigating terrorist networks in Pakistan. This lecture series was founded to honor Danny's commitment to the improvement of the human condition and his life’s work of connecting people through words and music.
