THE SERIES 2017 presents the world premiere of Kyle Georgina Marsh’s Deconstructing VENUS… a moving female portrait in a Split Bill performance with Monteleone Dance on Sunday, June 11th, 2017 at 3:00 PM. Performed by The Dancing Georgina Project, this world premiere revels in the architectural grace of the feminine form and all of its flowering beauty, questioning “Is beauty for the sake of beauty enough?”
“I love women and the way that the female body moves; especially within a social construct where they are constantly being objectified, such as an environment like the proscenium stage. Throughout history, flowers have been used as symbols to define the female body, femininity, and fertility. But sometimes a flower is just a flower. Sometimes a beautiful thing is just a beautiful thing; until it isn’t. The types of moments I like to see on stage are romantic, personal, and socially complex. That being said, if all that an audience takes away – is a moment of beauty – then I am happy.”

Deconstructing VENUS… a moving female portrait abstracts the female form through Kyle Georgina Marsh’s rapturous movement while reconstructing the ideal of what it means to be a woman. It all starts from the vantage point of merging one aspect into another until the audience witnesses a true transformation. To be a woman is to be more than one thing; being female is nuanced, complicated, challenging, and deadly. VENUS juxtaposes the idea of “purpose” and “being” from the feminine perspective and opens it up for the world’s gaze.
