A real life science fiction movie exploring a world creeping right beneath our feet, where time and space are magnified and intelligence redefined.
You are welcome to join the Birkbeck School of Arts for the screening of The Creeping Garden and a discussion on new materialism, technology, science and aesthetics with directors Tim Grabham and Jasper Sharp, Professor Esther Leslie and Dario Lolli. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and a drink reception.
The Creeping Garden is a multi award winning feature length creative documentary exploring the work of fringe scientists, mycologists and artists, and their relationship with the extraordinary plasmodial slime mould. The slime mould is being used to explore biological-inspired design, emergence theory, unconventional computing and robot controllers, much of which borders on the world of science fiction.
This is a cross-departmental event, free and open to all. However, the number of seats is limited, so book your ticket as soon as possible. If you book a place and find that you can no longer attend, please let us know so that someone on the Waiting List can have your space.
We look forward to welcoming you at Birkbeck!
