Patti LuPone discusses her career as an actor and musical theatre performer with journalist Kathy Henderson

About this event

Patti LuPone discusses her career as an actor and musical theatre performer with journalist Kathy Henderson. LuPone reminisces about her childhood music lessons and early days performing with her brothers, her intensive studies at The Juilliard School, and subsequent theatre experiences. She speaks about her Broadway roles in Evita, Anything Goes, Gypsy, and Sweeney Todd, and her dismissal from the London production of Sunset Boulevard. She also talks about her longtime friendship with playwright David Mamet, and her work in television. The interview was produced in partnership with the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) and originally recorded in June 2013 in the Library's Bruno Walter Auditorium. Presented here online for the first time as part of our ongoing "The Creative Process" series, this marks the digital debut of this conversation outside the walls of the Library.
