Description

The Connection Between Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking

(Please note: This is the same presentation as July 9, 2018)

In this presentation, participants will learn about the significant correlation between domestic violence and sex trafficking. Victim services, policy and identification of survivors are all implicated through the connection between the similarities between the two types of victimization. By examining the issue through the viewpoint of victim-service provider, policy maker and even the trafficker, participants will be able to identify sex trafficking survivors and their needs.

By attending this training, participants will learn:

  • the differences and similarities between domestic violence and sex trafficking.
  • the vulnerabilities to trafficking.
  • the overlap with different types of gender-based violence.
  • how policy decisions regarding domestic violence at the state and national level can impact sex trafficking victims.
  • how to expand existing domestic violence programming to include potential survivors of sex trafficking.

Presenter:

Amanda K. Rodriguez, Esq.
