Event description

Description

"Houston, we have a problem."

There is nothing worse than to receive a letter from your board issuing a complaint against you. What do you do? How do you handle this? Going through the current complaint process is not fun. And since I've been through it 8 times and the fact it took me 4 years, I feel obligated to share with you my expertise regarding the complaint process. This CEU is Cheaper Than A One Hour Visit With Your Attorney.

PREQUEL: HOURS ONE & TWO : Diligence & Application & The Gauntlet

  • Provide a brief website navigation demonstration for DSHS and respective licensing board websites. Statistical review of 2016 Complaints, categories and time sequence.
  • The SHALL, MUST and MAY: Dispelling the myth of ambiguity, once and for all, of your licensing board’s expectations to ensure your proper conduct/protocol.
  • Understanding of your Board’s Purpose and Role, including all Interns and Supervisors.
  • Review the Complaint Process. From beginning to end with a time line the mental health professional can expect. Review Ethics Complaint Hearing. Review the Formal Hearing process and sequence.
  • Review Sanctions - SubChapter K (LPC) and LCSW/LCDC.
  • How To Properly Respond To A Complaint & How To Testify Before The Board
  • What To Understand About Your Attorney's Role & Malpractice Coverage During Your Investigation.
  • Proper Protocol: The Way You Handle That Visit By The Investigator
  • Review And Discuss The Ramifications/Post- Complaint.
  • Your Malpractice Insurance Malpractice Insurance Carrier: What is a professional "incidence?"

****HOUR THREE*****The New Sheriff In Town: Sunset Commission

The Divorce of DSHS &LPC/LMFT/Social Worker Boards.

Why does the Sunset Commission want to dissolve your licensing board? Is this good news, or not? (LPC/LMFT/Social Worker)

Things are changing in Austin, beginning with a transfer of authority from the DSHS to the TDLR(Texas Department of Licensing Regulation). We'll discuss how it will affect you. There are two Senate Bills being looked at and voted on: S.B.1022 and S.B. 311. This will determine who will be watching over you. What is the creation/proposal of the BHEC (Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council)? What does this mean to you, your practice, and mental health-care for the citizens of Texas? Is this better or worse than what we have now?

Give me a call if you have any questions about the 3 Ethics CEU event: 972.234.6634 ext 101

Hope to see you soon! In the meantime, stay safe!
