Competition in the Age of Consolidation

Consolidation has been a major trend in the communications and technology space. Smaller communications companies, facing pressure from the incumbents, are aggressively seeking to merge in order to gain a better market position, or to change their business model to secure a new customer base. Our panelists will discuss investment strategies, strat egic financing, finding effective opportunities, their motivation behind their recent transactions, and the broad impact of consolidation on the marketplace.

PANELISTS:

  • Ron Mudry, Uniti Fiber, President

  • Brett Lindsey, Everstream, President and CEO

  • Tim Horan, Oppenheimer, Managing Director and Senior Analyst, Communication & Cloud Services

  • Moderator: James Henry, Bank Street, Senior Managing Director

Network Builders: The Future of Competition

New network builders are reshaping communities around the nation. In places where new vanguard broadband companies deploy new fiber networks, prices drop, speeds increase, and new businesses flourish. The market needs faster connections and greater capacity to accommodate business and consumer needs in the midst of a streaming revolution. Yet, regulatory roadblocks to competition continue to slow fiber deployment efforts, and Washington has taken notice. Our panelists will touch upon how they are building their business within the current regulatory scheme and how certain policies can be enacted to streamline and advance deployment. They will also address how certain regulations act as a barrier to deployment and how they are working to overcome these obstacles.

PANELISTS:

  • Kurt Van Wagnen, FirstLight, President and CEO

  • John Burchett, Google Fiber, Head of Policy

  • Jason Adkins, Unite Private Networks, President

  • Kelly McGriff, Southern Light, General Counsel

  • Moderator: Andy Lipman, Morgan Lewis, Senior Partner
