The Comedy Invitational TournamentLIVE VIRTUAL COMEDY Tournament
Comedy Therapy is happy to announce it’s first Comedy Invitational Tournament. 64 Comics enter the competition, but only 1 will walk out at the Grand Champion!
There are 6 rounds of competition, Starting March 1st and all ending on April 1st when the champion will be crowned. All Times are Eastern Standard Time.
Round 1 – All performers do 3 minutes each. The audience votes for the winners of each head to head.
Dates: 3/1 8PM, 3/4 10PM, 3/6 6PM, & 3/8 8PM
Round 2 – All performers do 3 minutes each. The audience votes for the winners of each head to head.
Dates: – 3/13 6PM & 3/15 8PM
Round 3 – All performers do 3 minutes each. The audience votes for the winners of each head to head.
Date 3/22 8PM
Quarter Final - All performers do 5 minutes each. The audience votes for the winners of each head to head.
Date 3/27 6PM
Semi Finals - All performers do 10 minutes each. The audience votes for the winners of each head to head.
Date 3/29 8PM
FINALS – The finalists do 20 minutes each. The Audience, a group of industry pros, and the pool of the quarter finalists (Who will also be invited to perform) will each get 1/3 of the vote to select out grand champion.
Date 4/1 10PM
Rules - Sign up is open February 10th to February 24th or until all performer spots are filled whichever ends first. Go to the show date via our website or Eventbrite page and sign up for a round 1 show.
There is a non-refundable entrance fee of $10.
If you advance, the performance dates and opponents are at the sole discretion of Comedy Therapy.
Laurels will be provided and brackets announced. Each performer agrees to sit for a zoom interview prior to their performance in every round.
All shows will be filmed for a documentary “The Comedy Invitational Tournament” which will be released by Comedy Therapy LLC. and New Media Comedy Worldwide LLC. A release exclusively for the documentary will be provided upon sign up.
Brackets and Laurels will be provided.
PRIZES: In addition to the documentary, the Grand Champion will receive:
An April and a May week where they will appear on all 4 shows at The Broadway Comedy Club virtual club.
A headline set of 30 minutes on their own show, April 24th 6PM produced by Comedy Therapy & simulcast via Twitch and YouTube live, curtsy of the Drinks, Jokes & Storytelling Podcast.
And a $250 cash prize.
The runner up receives an assortment of spots at The Broadway Comedy Club’s virtual portal and a #100 cash prize.
ZOOM SHOW TICKETS:
Space is Limited please purchase your tickets early.
The purchased ticket grants you access to a Zoom show and chat. Please make sure you download the Zoom app on your phone or computer ahead of time.
Upon purchase, you will be emailed a Zoom link - DO NOT SHARE IT. Only one person can use each link, and if more than one person tries to use it, both people will be locked out of the show.
ZOOM BEST PRACTICES:
You welcome turn your video off but our comics love to see their audience so don't be shy!
Place your Zoom in "Speaker Mode" to spotlight the comedian.
We encourage the audience to keep their mics on so that everyone can hear the laughter. If your mic is on, headphones are mandatory to prevent feedback.
Please be respectful: if you interrupt the performance or do anything inappropriate on video you will be locked out of the show.
