____

On Tuesday September 17th, Governor Hickenlooper and Secretary Gessler announced the Colorado Innovation Challenge. This Challenge will address real business decision-making problems with web or mobile applications created by Colorado’s robust technology community. The first step is reaching out to Colorado’s business community. We want to know what issues you face that could be solved with better access to or more refined analysis of public data.

We are writing you today because we would like you to help define the most pressing business decision-making problem you and your fellow business owners face.

What will happen at the event?

You and your colleagues will be presented with 15-20 problem statements (short paragraph statements that capture a decision-making problem) and we will ask you to vote for the five most pressing issues. Once the top five problems are identified we will spend time further developing each into detailed problem briefs.

During the Colorado Innovation Challenge software developers will design applications to address the problem briefs identified during this workshop. Each application will be judged and the winning participants will receive $100,000 in financial incentives and other services, like office space and mentorships.

We encourage you to submit your own Challenge Problem Statement, by visiting http://bit.ly/BICChallenge
