Event description
Rochester's public school performance: Possible solutions to the "elephant in the room."

About this Event

Barely half of students entering the Rochester City School District as 9th graders graduate in four years. Many who do receive an RCSD diploma either choose not to attend college or fail to complete even an associate’s degree.

This Rochester Beacon Solutions Forum, held in partnership with The College at Brockport's Institute for Poverty Studies and Economic Development, will explore two levels of intervention. The first category includes some form of state receivership that partly augments and partly displaces existing district governance and mayoral control. The second includes four models: charter schools; independent, cross-district schools intentionally mixed by socioeconomic status; community schools; and the current receivership model as applied at East High School.

Bond, Schoeneck & King is presenting sponsor of the event. Mengel Metzger Barr & Co. LLP and the Rochester Area Community Foundation are silver sponsors.
