Event description

Description

Join us for a public showcase hosted at New Lab to celebrate The Circular City, a program that brings together entrepreneurs, city leaders, corporate partners, and university innovators to tackle urban challenges. On the evening of March 7th, we will put the spotlight on the research, technologies, pilots, and collaborations catalyzed during the first year of The Circular City, which are cumulatively helping to transform the way emerging technology can positively impact life in cities.

The evening will feature:

  • Opening remarks from our city partners:
    • Ana Ariño, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, NYCEDC
    • Regina Myer, President, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership
  • Unveiling of new applied research exploring how data is reframing issues of urban mobility, economic development and resiliency from:
    • André Corrêa d'Almeida, Columbia University and ARCx
    • Stefaan Verhulst & Andrew Young, NYU's GovLab
    • Arnaud Sahuguet, Cornell Tech
    • Nilda Mesa, Columbia University, Center for Sustainable Urban Development
  • Lightning talks featuring the startups who are producing, analyzing, and exchanging data to create a sustainable urban future for all:
    • Numina
    • Citiesense
    • CARMERA
  • A chance to take in interactive tech demos and mingle during a cocktail reception

Plus a special exhibition: Data Through Design by PRATT x Spatial Analysis and Visualization Initiative.
