The Churchyard and Spirituality

People visit a Churchyard to remember, to reflect and to enjoy the surroundings. How can the church help enhance that spiritual experience? This workshop will provide an opportunity to think about the value of our churchyards and how we can enhance the experience of those who visit them.
- The Revd Dr Sally Welch: Vicar of Charlbury and author of “Outdoor Church”
- The Revd Dr Mark Betson:Diocesan Rural and Environment Officer Chichester Diocese and co author of “The Nature of God’s Acre”
- Revd Jean Andrews: Missioner of Charlbury Baptist Church, and Facilitator of Wychwood Forest Church. Charlbury Baptist Church have created a quiet garden at the church.
- Rachel Woods and Caroline Steel from The Parable Garden. Rachel is the author of the Grove booklet "Into the Garden"
There is a small charge to cover costs. Please bring your own lunch; drinks provided. There is no car parking at Charlbury Church. Parking is on street or at the free car park at Spendlove Centre Enstone Road OX7 3PQ Please allow time to walk to the church. Charlbury is on the Cotrswold Line(5 mins walk from station)

1.30pm: Parable Garden – (outdoors) Rachel Woods - Parable Garden co-founder, retreat facilitator, consultant for schools and churches in RE and Spirituality, artist and author Caroline Steel, Parable Garden co-founder, retreat facilitator, formerly butterfly conservationist: How can churches help visitors connect with seasonal cultivation related to churchyard care in ways that communicate the Gospel and connect them with the church’s calendar and community?
