The Children's Hour: A Queer Explosion
Chubby bunny with ancient cotton, feral baby kittens, a banana with an integrity of a phone: This Brown/ Trinity Rep remount of The Children’s Hour, a queer explosion of a 1934 Lillian Hellman play set in an all-girls boarding school, examines the role of love, language and identity in the face of fear. When a restless student runs away, she tells a lie that changes the lives of the adults around her forever. Using costume and music, this workshop examines the role of rhythm and performativity in the corruption and creation of our normatized narratives.
Directed By Kate Bergstrom, featuring music by Kirsten Volness and performances by Billy Hutto, Oriana Lada, Jayne McLendon, Matt Lytle, Jack Dwyer, Octavia Chavez-Richmond and Marcel Mascaro.
