The Chelsea Symphony presents “Songs of Hope” on March 6-7 during its fourteenth season RISE UP featuring Beethoven’s epic Ninth Symphony.

One of the most recognizable and most performed symphonies, this work is best known for its monumental finale with text from Friedrich Schiller’s poem An die Freude, or as is commonly known, the “Ode to Joy.” In 2001, the manuscript was the first piece of music registered with the United Nations ‘Memory of the World’ register, an organization dedicated to the preservation, access, and awareness of documentary heritage.

Accompanying this monumental work are two world premieres by TCS composers, Tim Kiah and Mike Boyman, the latter of which is a double horn concerto featuring Jessica Santiago and Emily Wong.

Concert run time: 105 minutes including a 15-minute intermission
Concert will be held at the St. Paul's German Lutheran Church, 315 West 22nd Street
