Opening Event: Friday, March 9, 2018 - 6:30pm to 9:00pm

Even as a teenager, Memphis native Patricia Rainer was about as passionate a fan of music as one could be. She started one of the very first Beatles Fan Clubs in the United States in 1963, and later gave them the key to the city when the band played Mid-South Coliseum in 1966. Rainer worked in record shops, wrote for underground newspapers, produced concerts, and befriended Memphis' music royalty, from Jim Dickinson and Alex Chilton, to Phineas Newborn and Willie Mitchell. Rainer's greatest contribution, though, was her photography, documenting an era of Memphis music after Stax had closed and The King had left the building. "The Chaos and the Cosmos" provides an intimate look at the late 1970s and early 1980s in Memphis, when musicians struggled to be heard and a city fought to reclaim its mantle as the home of rock and roll, the blues, and soul.

Patricia will be giving an artist talk at 7:30pm with author Robert Gordon
