The WBCO Presents:
The Business Case for Gender Equity
Jean M. Treuthart, Chief Executive Officer, York YWCA
How is the U.S. doing in the arena of gender equity in the workplace? Jean will share the global report card that indicates there is work yet to be done. Whether we’re talking about the need for new social programs or the impact of subtle sexism, our national efforts can be strengthened to support the needs of women and families while employers also benefit.
Jean M. Treuthart brings over 30 years of experience in organizational leadership, revenue building, fund raising and advocacy to YWCA York. Previously, Jean championed access and opportunity to education at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) in the position of Campus Vice President of the York Campus. Under her leadership, the campus had been the fastest growing in the college’s history with 2014 enrollment reaching just over 3,000 students.
Jean graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in management studies and went on to earn a master’s degree in cultural communications from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She has been a frequent community speaker on social and economic justice topics related to the fields of education and women’s leadership roles.
Jean is active on several community boards, including: the Rotary Club of York, York Hospital, and the York County Economic Alliance (YCEA). In 2013, she was recognized by the YCEA as the Education/Workforce Advocate of the Year. In 2015, she received the ATHENA International Leadership award for her commitment to mentoring young women. She lives in York with her husband, Steve Baker.
