Workshop Present - Monika Lamb

Monika Lamb was born in Opelousas, LA to Anna Mae Lamb and Donald Lamb. She received her high school diploma from Opelousas Senior High School in 1994. Upon graduation, she received a basketball scholarship to attend Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott Kansas where she graduated with an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting in 1996. She went on to further her education by accepting a basketball scholarship from Cedric Baker to attend Voorhees College in Denmark, SC. In 1999, Monika graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and later enlisted United States Army. While on Active Duty, she served at the following locations:

Delta company, 369 Basic Combat Training Battalion – Fort Jackson. South Carolina

Alpha Company, 126th Finance Battalion - Fort Bragg, North Carolina

39th Finance Battalion - Hanau, Germany

106th Finance Battalion - Monticello, Kosovo

3rd Finance Battalion - Camp Liberty, Iraq

3rd Finance Fort Stewart, Georgia

In August 2006, Monika separated Active Duty and enlisted in the United States Army Reserve at HHC, 2nd Brigade. During her time on Active duty and in the Reserves, Monika earned one Meritorious Service Medal (MSM), five Army Accommodation Medals (ARCOM), six Army Achievement Medals (AAM), three Good Conduct Medal (GCM), five Certificates of Achievements (COA), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the three Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO Medal, and a Driver’s Badge.

In addition to servicing in the United States Army Reserves, Monika accepted a position with South Carolina Office of The Internal Auditor in September 2006. Two years later in 2008, she transitioned to South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department as an Internal Auditor/Job Readiness Fiscal Coordinator. In March of 2016, Monika retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class. Also, she retired from South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department on July 1, 2016.

Currently, she operates a nonprofit (501c3) organization called Tri-City Visionaries whose mission is to enhance and train entrepreneurs as well as repair and restore low to moderate income houses. Monika also assist with increasing the skill set to those transitioning from high school to either the armed forces, universities, technical college, or entrepreneurship. Ms. Lamb also provides training to high school students on how to seek and search for scholarships as well as avoid the student loan debt crisis. Monika's passion for sharing and advising the community gives her opportunity to travel and empower the world.

In the past year, Monika traveled to Georgia, Louisiana, New York, and North Carolina. She taught small business workshops to new start-up businesses, existing companies, and aspiring entrepreneurs. Monika's information guided the careers of many independent contractors or free lancers, assisting them with organizing talents with business matters. Her exposure to various cultures and divergent professionals ensures her comfort level in working side by side with a variety of organizations.

Monika is an active member of the Voorhees College National Alumni Association as well as the VC Midland Chapter. Additionally, Monika volunteers with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Woodrow Wilson Chapter 4, Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), New Economic Beginnings Foundation (NEB), Juveniles Upholding Morales and Principles of Society (JUMPS), Inspired Inc, Lovin’ The Skin I’m In, We Girlz Rock, The Dagger Squad Business Group, Financially Focused Literacy Group, SC Housing Trust Fund, The Gospel Hammer Housing Recovery Project, Inspiring Divine Touch, and Community Pastor Care.
