The Brainpower Chronicles: Mental Health Stories - Streaming Premiere
Event Information
About this Event
NAMI Washington launched The Brainpower Chronicles: Mental Health Stories to bring people together in their experiences of mental illness and recovery. Mental health crises can be some of the most isolating health events one may experience in this lifetime, with a ripple effect that impacts entire families. The Brainpower Chronicles is our way of creating community and breaking down the stigma that keeps people silent, while raising funds for NAMI Washington’s critical mission to improve the quality of life of all people affected by mental illness.
The Brainpower Chronicles is NAMI Washington's signature fundraising event of the year, and as with everything in 2020, we are going virtual. There is no ticket fee to watch our 2020 production, we strongly encourage you to make a donation when you register for the event, or you can make a gift during the event on November 21st (or anytime before or after)!
Register to watch our amazing 2020 cast share their stories of recovery and hope!
Miriam Feldman: Author, speaker and mental health advocate whose hardest lesson was to accept and love her son for who he is, not who was "supposed to be."
Michelle Yang: Business professional, daughter, wife and mother who busts the stigma of mental illness by sharing her story publicly and professionally. Michelle says, "I want to tell my younger self, and all those out there like me, that life gets better. So much better."
Melissa Reaves: Storyteller and mom whose childhood struggle with OCD comes full circle as she watches her daughter learn to cope with the same diagnosis. Melissa says," My daughter wasn't going to battle OCD alone like I did growing up. We are going to share a psychological Love Language!"
Robert Goodwin: A public defender learns to defend his right to actively participate in his mental health care and treatment.
Patrick Johnson: A twin brother explores two different paths when mental illness enters the family story. Patrick says, "It took twenty years for me to find the courage to ask why him and not me?”
