Event description

Description

Conversation between the Artist, Helen Pynor and Professor Mike Shattock, hosted by Science Gallery London’s very own Director, Daniel Glaser.

Hear about how The Body is a Big Place has evolved through performances in which pig’s hearts have been reanimated in this perfusion devise, as well as installations and collaborations with scientists and surgeons from Dublin, Slovenia and Sydney.

Video of the performance in Dublin - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDt_ebModRo

As part of Science Gallery London’s Blood: Life Uncut season, the work looks at themes such as life affirmation and health, as we come to understand more about the mechanics of the human body, surgery and the ideas around life and death. We will ask questions such as: How could this art work prove important to transplantation? How has art and science collided to create this work?

All in the beautiful and historic surrounds of the Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret, London Bridge.
