New Hampshire PBS, in partnership with New Hampshire Humanities, the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire and the Manchester Chapter of the NAACP present a screening and discussion of the new PBS documentary THE BLACK CHURCH: THIS IS OUR STORY. THIS IS OUR SONG on Sunday, April 11th @ 2pm.
The two-part series, hosted by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., reveals the broad history and culture of the Black Church and explores the African American faith communities on the frontlines of hope and change.
This online virtual event will feature 30 minutes of THE BLACK CHURCH documentary followed by an interactive discussion moderated by Dr. Tricia Peone, public programs director at New Hampshire Humanities.
If you joined us for previous screenings of this groundbreaking documentary, some of the video clips will be familiar. Panelists include New Hampshire Black Heritage Trail Executive Director JerriAnne Boggis, President of the Manchester Chapter of the NAACP James McKim and the Rev. Robert Thompson. In this presentation, we’ll explore the soulful sounds of The Black Church and celebrate its lasting legacy on American music.
