Event description

Description

In 2015, the Black AIDS Institute released a report on the state of HIV/AIDS literacy in the HIV/AIDS workforce in the United States. From 2012-2014 the Black AIDS Institute, Latino Commission on AIDS, National Association of State and Territorial AIDS Directors, Janssen Therapeutics, CDC and John Hopkins University came together to measure knowledge of HIV science and treatment within the HIV non-medical workforce, evaluate worker’s familiarity with and attitudes towards recent biomedical interventions; and identify factors that may affect HIV knowledge and attitudes. With over 4,000 respondents the findings of that survey have informed next steps to develop a national HIV Workforce Certification Program. In order to develop this program the Black AIDS Institute is conducting engagement activities all around the country in order to gather feedback from members of the HIV workforce. The Black AIDS Institute would like to host a townhall and 2 small focus groups at this year’s USCA in Washington, DC. These activities will allow us to present our findings thus far and collect feedback from community leaders all around the country
