About this event

The Bitteroots

Since its founding in 2008, the band’s groove-oriented approach to rock ‘n’ roll has drawn comparisons to the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin and has landed The Bitteroots onstage at some of the Southeast’s most prestigious festivals, including the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the Sweetwater 420 Festival, the Summer Shade Festival, the Inman Park Festival, Stone Mountain Park’s Yellow Daisy Festival, and The Amplify Decatur Music Festival.

Driven by Laura Dees’ powerful, soulful lead vocals, The Bitteroots also include founding members Bill Taylor on bass and Mike Davis on drums. Saxophonist Derron Nuhfer joined the group in 2014, helping round out what has become the band’s unique sonic signature. In early 2018, The Bitteroots added the tasteful yet hard-driving PJ Poellnitz on guitar.

The Bitteroots have released six albums of original music with their latest, "Try Me Again," released April 2021. Original albums include “French Fries” (2010), “Central of Georgia” (2012), “After The Rain” (2013), “Under The Big Sky” (2014) and "Derailer" (2019). The band also released a live album (“Live at The 120 Music Hall”) recorded in 2014.

Traye Horne Band

The Traye Horne Band plays music in a way not often seen in the current music industry. Their debut album, entitled You Were Gone, combines well written lyrics with outstanding musicianship. They use both improvisation and tightly structured songs to make a genre-crossing style all their own. The album, which will release in early 2011, contains songs that leave a lasting impression, which is the effect of music complete with a great hook, passion, and musicians with the ability to bring it all together.

The group was formed in Columbia, South Carolina in late 2009 after years in which the group’s members played around the state in different projects. Traye Horne has been performing live since he was twelve years old on a variety of instruments, including bass, piano, and guitar, which is the instrument that drives his music now. Traye takes a vast approach to his lyrics and vocals with influences ranging from Dave Matthews to the Beatles; from the Goo Goo Dolls to an even a more soulful approach from his background growing up in gospel music. The band began when Traye decided that backing musicians would be the best way to move his music forward. He asked Kyle Bryant to take the lead guitar duties. Kyle’s playing is deeply rooted in the blues, bringing its style with him to add an additional element to Traye’s songs. Traye recruited his friend and former drummer Chris miano to fill in on drums. Chris is a technically proficient drummer bringing amazing energy behind the kit. Having played in bands with Traye previously, Chris’s playing provides an instant, strong connection in the music. Travis Lucas completes the band by adeptly handling the role of bass player. He lays down a solid bass line that drives the group, combining influences as diverse as the Chili Peppers and indie rock.
