Big Tex Gym is proud to bring you our annual event, The Big Tex Classic!

Come on out to Big Tex Gym in Austin, Texas on Saturday 5/4/19 to test your mettle on some classic Strongman events. There will be vendors/sponsors, music, food, games and fun for both competitors and spectators alike! Check out the details below!

Entry Deadline: Entries will be taken until the contest starts but you must enter by 4/13/19 to be guaranteed a contest T shirt.

Rules Meeting: 930am (ALL ATHLETES MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE TO COMPETE)

Weigh-in: Friday 5/3/19 from 8am-10am and 5pm-7pm. 5/4/19 from 730-830am AT BIG TEX GYM

Awards: Trophies for 1-3rd place in all divisions/classes. Cash prize for top OPEN male and female competitors.

Divisions: **Weight classes will be combined if there are less than 5 competitors signed up**

Novice Women: LW (<165) and HW (166+)

Novice Men: LW (<220) and HW (221+)

Open Women: LW (<132), MW (133-165), HW (166-198), SHW (199+)

Open Men: LW(<181), MW (182-198, 199-220), HW (221-242, 243-275), SHW (276-308, 309+)

Adaptive/disabled: Seated & Standing

Events:

1.) Log clean and press x max reps x 60 seconds (clean each rep)

2.) Farmers carry x 80' with a turn at 40' (so 40' down, turn, 40' back to start)

3.) Stone to shoulder x max reps x 60 seconds

4.) Hammer CRUCIFIX hold x max time

5.) Keg load over bar x max reps x 60 seconds


EVENT 1- Log clean and press x max reps x 60 seconds

Rules:

*60 second time limit from judge's signal to get as many reps as possible. CLEAN AND PRESS EVERY REP.

*Wrist wraps, elbow/knee sleeves, chalk, grip shirts, belt with buckle or lever to back ALLOWED.

*Straps, suits, tacky/tacky towels, elbow/knee wraps NOT ALLOWED.

*elbows/knees must be extended and feet must be parallel to get the "down" call from judge. Must wait for down call for rep to be counted.

*strict press,viper press, push press, push jerk, power jerk, split jerk ALLOWED.

*most reps wins it

*Women will use 8" log. Men will use 12" log.

EVENT 2- Farmers Carry

Rules:

*Athlete has 60 seconds to carry the implements 40' down, turn and come 40' back to the starting line starting at the judges signal. Distance will be taken if not completed by time limit

*Hands can start on implement before time starts.

*Elbow/knee sleeves, belt, chalk, wrist wraps ALLOWED

*Tacky/tacky towel, knee/elbow wraps, suits, gloves, straps NOT ALLOWED

*Athlete must carry the implements all the way around a cone placed 40' from the starting line.

EVENT 3- Stone to Shoulder

Rules:

*Athlete has 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible.

*Athlete will receive a down command from judge. NO bouncing stone at the bottom.

*Stone must be stable and motionless with ONE HAND HOLDING IT IN PLACE to get a down call,

*belt w buckle or lever to back, chalk, knee/elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, tacky ALLOWED

*Suits, knee/elbow wraps NOT ALLOWED

*Athlete can alternate shoulders

Event 4- Hammer CRUCIFIX hold (held at with straight arms out at sides)

Rules:

*Max time wins.

*Arms must remain slightly above parallel (judge's discretion) or time will stop.

*No excessive arching back (judge's discretion).

*Belt, wrist wraps, elbow/knee sleeves, chalk ALLOWED.

*Suits, elbow/knee wraps, tacky/tacky towel NOT ALLOWED

Event 5- Keg load over bar

Rules:

*60 second time limit.

*Athletes can start with hands on the keg.

*Wrist wraps, elbow/knee sleeves, chalk, belt to back, grip shirts ALLOWED.

*Tacky, tacky towel, suits, elbow/knee wraps NOT ALLOWED.

*Athletes cannot gain leverage by grabbing/touching or stepping up onto the yoke.

*Most reps over bar wins in 60 seconds wins.

*48" bar for Open Men, 46" bar for Open Women, 46" bar for Novice Men, 44" for Novice Women
