Event description
Join us for the Big Table: All Children Count! to discuss the 2020 Census and why it is important for our university community!

About this Event

Clear and accurate Census data is the life blood for a strong Ohio. But inadequate funding as well as a series of vital policy decisions could place Ohio’s communities at risk of an inaccurate census count, limiting their political power and federal funding for the next decade.

We welcome you to join us for the Big Table: All Children Count! on Wednesday, August 28th at 5:00pm to have a community conversation on why the census is important, who's at risk of being uncounted, and what we can do to help ensure a more accurate count in 2020.

Meal provided! 🍕🍕🍕

We will meet in Page Hall's Leadership Education Center, Room 130 on the 1st floor.

Hosted by the OSU Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the OSU Kirwan Institue for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs

About The Big Table:

WHAT?

The Columbus Foundation invites central Ohio to connect with and inspire each other through conversations about the future of Columbus that empower a stronger community. Open, thoughtful discussions will spark new relationships and new ways for working together by deepening our understanding of each other and what the community needs.

WHEN?

On August 28, 2019, people from across central Ohio will gather for conversations throughout the day. Conversations happen at breakfast, lunch, dinner and any time in between—whenever a group can come together to share their thoughts for creating a brighter future.

WHO?

Hundreds of hosts invite thousands of others who care about each other and the future of our community to meet in small groups throughout central Ohio. Most conversations will include 8–12 people. Those participating in conversations are also encouraged to use social media to share their thoughts and experiences.

WHERE?

Each host chooses a location where a group can meet to have a conversation and share refreshments. Locations may include homes, restaurants, community centers, libraries, offices, and places of worship, among others. Refreshments may range from snacks to full dinners—whatever each group can enjoy together.

WHY?

Columbus is a city that thrives because we care. We are willing to give our time to listen and learn from one another. When we come together, we empower each other to lead our community to an even better future.
