Event Details

Join the School of Public Policy & The Center for Faith and Learning for a captivating evening discussion with Rod Dreher as he discusses his vision for the future of Christian life and political engagement in an increasingly secularized America. Called "the most important religious book of the decade" by David Brooks in the New York Times, Dreher draws arguments from great Christian thinkers ranging from Benedict of Nursia in the sixth century to Alisdair MacIntyre to say that people of faith need to step back from involvement in national politics to focus more on local matters and personal faith commitments.

Dreher is a journalist and writer who focuses on the intersection of religion, culture, and politics. He is a senior editor at The American Conservative and the author of The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians.

LIGHT REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED FOLLOWING THE LECTURE.

Pepperdine, School of Public Policy

Today's public leaders not only need to possess the tools of effective policy analysis, but they must understand how these policies will be accepted and sustained by a public. Pepperdine offers students that distinctively comprehensive curriculum, which contemplates that there is, indeed, a "public" in public policy – one that must be both involved and informed to form sustainable solutions.
