Event Information
Description
Join us for our 2019 King Holiday Signature Event Beloved Community Talks (BCT) as we continue our courageous conversation...Let's Bridge the Racial Divide!
During this year's King Holiday, The King Center invites you to join us in courageous conversations that explore systemic racism and the actions required to end it.
Understanding Systemic Racism and Intersectionality
This powerful conversation will provide a foundation for gaining a better and deeper understanding of systemic racism. In addition, this enlightening conversation will explore how to dismantle the interlocking systems of power that lead to institutionalized racism.
A Decade of Change and Disruption
This dynamic conversation will demonstrate how to use your voice and influence to amplify social issues and dismantle systems that perpetuate injustice. Lastly, this inspiring conversation will provide a foundation and action items for others to facilitate change and positive disruption in order to transform communities and create a more just and humane world.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "...I am convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other, and they don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other, and they don’t communicate with each other because they are separated from each other.” We know these courageous conversations will not solve all matters regarding race relations, but we do believe this is a step in the right direction.
