About this event

Is Lake Merritt a fit for an Observatory? Director of the Exploratorium’s Bay Observatory, Susan Schwartzenberg, and Director of the Studio for Public Spaces, Shawn Lani, will talk about the San Francisco Exploratorium’s environmental and place-based work, emphasizing some new work exploring social science themes. The Bay Observatory, along with the Exploratorium's Studio for Public Spaces, directed by Shawn Lani has developed the concept of museums as field stations monitoring physical, biological and social dimensions of place in our urbanized world. Susan and Shawn will present the work and a vision to create linked learning hubs around the Bay - with Lake Merritt a key site!
