The Bath Salt Zombies are a central Florida band whose performances are an entertaining mix of originals and covers that has been variously described as grunge grass, carnival folk rock and hippie pirate music. Their unique sound is created by Graham Woodard—rhythm guitar and vocals, Zane Bowman—banjo, theremin and vocals, Dan Croley—percussion and vocals, Tucker Cobb—acoustic bass and vocals, and Jason “Fancypants Fancypants” Miller on mandolin.
The Bath Salt Zombies formed in the fall of 2012. They played more than 100 shows the following year, including several festivals in and around Florida such as Orange Blossom Jamboree and Bamboo Jamboo. The band’s eclectic sound quickly gained them popularity in a number of seemingly unrelated scenes including the hippie/jam scene, biker rallies and the acoustic punk scene.
The year was 1931 when our homeworld was destroyed by a string of rogue comets originating somewhere behind the Lump Crab Nebula. In the nick of time we were able to round up the creatures that make up the Zoo Peculiar--the beings our people, the Hobo Erectus, are sworn to protect--and escape the planet Xoo using the cosmos intergalactic superhighway known as the Bumzanus Portal. Having spiraled through the portal for eons, we were spat out on your primitive planet. Now, stranded among the humans, we travel across your world with our precious creatures in search of the correct cosmic keytone which will one day reopen the Bumzanus Portal and transport us back to our rightful place amongst the stars. Oh, and we play circus music from outer space.
