Youth will learn and apply key techniques to writing and performing spoken word: how to tell one's story and engage other's stories, create and apply their own unique style, and leave with at least two spoken word pieces honor their story. Students will learn to engage with fellow artists in their work by being an active listener and taking part in the artist's story. Each week, youth will engage in a variety of exercises that support their growth as a writer and performer. At the end of the series we will host a showcase where youth can perform their pieces to friends and family.
