Pre Scribed is an 'Improving access to support' research project led by University of Bristol researchers Ruth Riley and Johanna Spiers, who will be part of the discussion. Ruth and Johanna interviewed 45 GPs regarding their work experience, challenges and joys from primary care. The outcome of this research is then commissioned into a theatre production by Viv. The production is a compilation consisting of verbatim quotes from transcripts of the research. It is going to show case at the Edinburgh fringe this year.

Description of Pre scribed (written and performed by Viv Gordon)

"My life is ludicrous

I am a success

Every day I engage in a rapid series of one way interactions in which

I...

Don't...

Matter..."

This piece of emotive and witty dance theatre examines the side effects of being a GP. It is a story of struggling when you’re not “supposed to”, of feeling set up and ashamed, and of finding your way through.

Viv Gordon, who has lived experience of mental ill health, explores research being undertaken into understanding the barriers to help-seeking and improving access to support for the thousands of GPs living with mental illness.

Join us for an evening of performance followed by a discussion and led workshop to further explore mental health in the profession. The performance will provide a powerful stimulus to probe the subject and enable you to share, debate and learn with fellow trainees, trainers and colleagues with an interest in primary care education.
