2 session workshop (each session 10am - 1pm )- second session is February 17th - Fee covers both sessions, Fee includes materials.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is manipulated to create shapes to design and decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, jewelry, mobiles etc. There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3D miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among many things. Quilling often imitated the original ironwork of the day.

Instructor - April Zay is a teaching artist and founder of Hummingbird Arts. A graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC with a BFA in Illustration, she went on to design packaging for companies including Lenox and Waterford Crystal. She currently runs classes and workshops for Princeton Arts Council, Grounds for Sculpture, Bright Horizons Child Development Center, North Brunswick Public Library, Inclusive Montessori, Bucks County Classical Arts Center, to name a few.

Classes will be offered in the Historic Row Houses & Village Museum (aka Allaire Visitor Center)
