Celebrate the publication of Thomas Dilley’s The Art of Memory: Historic Cemeteries of Grand Rapids, Michigan with a day of free programming featuring a tour of the Oak Hill Cemetery followed by a reception and presentation on the history of American cemeteries at the Grand Rapids Public Library. With The Art of Memory, Dilley takes the reader through the history and evolution of cemetery design from its earliest days to the present, detailing how Grand Rapids’ park cemeteries exhibited national trends and the changing cultural beliefs about honoring the dead.
