Event Details

Join Just Food and Crock & Jar for a special evening with "fermentation revivalist" and author Sandor Ellix Katz to celebrate the release of his new book The Art of Fermentation. Since the publication of Wild Fermentation in 2003, Sandor Katz has taught hundreds of sold-out workshops across the country. On this rare visit to NYC, Sandor will share stories from his new book, discuss fermentation practices, and answer troubleshooting questions.

Join Sandor for an in-depth conversation, Q & A and book-signing, along with a delicious tasting of Brooklyn's own, naturally fermented, Crock & Jar Krauts. The event will take place at 61 Local, 61 Bergen Street (near Smith Street), in Brooklyn where fermentation is an everyday event, with not only beer, but also kombucha on tap.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn from one of the top experts and enthusiasts of fermented foods, just in time to preserve summer's vegetable bounty.

Registration is limited, so don't delay!

Copies of The Art of Fermentation and Crock and Jar krauts will be available for purchase.

Just Food and Crock and Jar

Just Food is a non-profit organization that connects communities and local farms with the resources and support they need to make fresh, locally grown food accessible to all New Yorkers.  Just Food provides regional farmers and food producers, CSA organizers and everyday eaters with the resources and support they need to establish and experience healthy food systems - in every neighborhood.  To find out more about Just Food, visit www.justfood.org.

Crock & Jar is dedicated to supporting our community by increasing the amount of local food we buy seasonally.  Crock and Jar creates its own unique products, using the best of locally available produce and teaches techniques of food preservation (fermentation, pickling and canning) to inspire others to use these methods in order to buy more local food in season and preserve it for the leaner months.  For more information about Crock and Jar, visit www.crockandjar.com
