Event description

Description

Disaggregating data is a powerful step toward equitable outcomes, revealing differential effects among student populations. However, students have complex lives; their identities don’t fit neatly into one box or another. Students wouldn’t describe themselves solely by one demographic characteristic; ethnicity, gender, age, and program of study are all part of who they are. Deeper analysis of student data through multivariate analysis can provide a way to understand patterns of need and program effect among sub-populations such as men of color, older returning veterans, or Latina women in STEM pathways. This workshop will cover data sources, data tools, methods of analysis, and story development. If you come to this workshop with your campus data you can learn to create data-driven stories that reflect the complexity of our student populations and that address the need to monitor students' progress along their academic pathways. Cross-functional teams including practitioners and researchers are encouraged.
