 When: Thursday, October 6, 2011 and Friday, October 7, 2011 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Where: Microsoft's Downtown San Francisco Offices (Westfield Mall)

Why: To bring together technologists and violence prevention stakeholders to encourage collaborative participation in the "Apps Against Abuse" Challenge.

Who Should Participate: GIS professionals, Mobile application developers and coders, Women in technology, Public health professionals, Public safety experts, College students, VAW community leaders and concerned Gov 2.0 civic leaders.

BAAMA.org is encouraging local participation in the Federal Challenge to develop “Apps Against Abuse.” This Challenge.gov submission requires only a prototype and the coders retain the rights to their application. Links to the initiative appear below. The Challenge is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of The Vice President to leverage technology and data to decrease violence against women on College Campuses.

The program is bringing together a broad group of stakeholders in this effort. In addition to the many City and County professionals in our group, we anticipate the participation of women in technology, campus programs, students, public health and local experts.
