THE Ambrosian Choristers & Orchestra present "A CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS"
Come and join us at St. Augustine’s Antiochian Orthodox Church for a Calssical Christmas! This year, a beautiful program has been prepared by the Church’s resident ensemble, The Ambrosian Choristers, soloists and orchestra. The music of the ever-popular W. A. Mozart dominates the celebration.
At 11:30 pm on Saturday, Dec. 24th, the Festival Music for the Eve of Christmas will feature Mozart’s splendid—Exsultate Jubilate featuring coloratura soprano Stephanie Anne Ball.
At Midnight, Mozart’s sparkling Credo-Messe, Kv. 257 for soloists, chorus, and orchestra will be heard. You will also hear Adeste Fidelis arranged in the style of Mozart by Vincent Novello. G. B.Pergolesi’s Glory to God in the highest, and Melchiore Mauro-Cattone’s touching Christmas lulaby, Ninna Nanna will also be presented. The Mass will conclude with the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah by Handel—with the orchestration by Mozart! A schola cantorum of male voices will sing the Gregorian Propers of the Mass. Jeff Talley will be conducting and Francis E. Slechta will play the organ and direct the school cantorum.
