Event description
A Professional Development Session with Glenn Rollans on winding up and winding down a publishing house.

About this Event

How do you start a publishing house - really start one - and grow it? Once you’re ready, how do you get out? What’s your company worth? How will customers, granting agencies, potential purchasers and the bank look at the transition?

Maybe you’ve thought about starting a book publishing company, but you’re not really sure what success would look like, how you might get there, or what risks are worth taking. Or maybe you’ve published a dozen — or a hundred — books, but you still feel stuck in low gear.

Understanding the business you’re in can help you chart a satisfying, rewarding course for yourself, your authors, your readers and your publishing house.

No matter how much fun you have publishing books, how much good work you do, or how rewarding it all is, some day it will end. You will sell your publishing house, or wind it up. Again, that can be a satisfying, rewarding process, but it can also be a train wreck. It’s not exactly your choice which or when it will be, but it helps to understand what’s involved in preparing to sell your business, what’s involved in a sale, and what you can do to close shop on good terms.

Join Glenn Rollans in Saskatoon on Friday, November 29 in the Conference Room at the Remai Modern to answer these questions. Reserve your spot before Thursday, 21 November.

SaskBooks members are invited to reserve their spot for our seasonal lunch immediately following this event.
