The Alarming Truth Campus Fire Safety Seminar will introduce you to the project that focuses on the issue of off-campus fire safety. Since 2000, more than four out of five campus-related fire deaths have happened in off-campus housing where most of the students across the nation live. This seminar will provide you with tools to help address this problem, including the groundbreaking video The Alarming Truth that was written, filmed and produced by students as well as strategies that you can use in reaching out to students in your community.
This program is for anyone involved in educating students about fire safety, including campus fire safety officials, housing officers, community liaisons, fire chiefs and fire prevention specialists.
We have added an additional hour for lunch and a guided discussion from noon-1:00 pm, which will focus on specific topics around fire safety education and outreach to students in our campus communities, strategies involved, and provide an opportunity to share your own initiatives.
This is a free seminar, made possible with funding from the Department of Homeland Security Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program.
