Event description

Description

The Actors Workout is the nucleus of the Boise Film Workout, a growing collection of workshops devoted to treating aspects of film making as muscle groups that need to be exercised regularly. The Actors Workout is designed to provide a safe, low-pressure setting in which aspiring actors and directors can collaborate under simulated set conditions to work those film making muscles and continue to sharpen their craft. “Workout” sessions use 2-3 person scenes from produced film/television shows that focus on every aspect of film making from audition technique, to rehearsal, to shooting the scene from both the actor and the director’s point of view. Ages 16 and up.

When: Thursdays from 6:30 to 9pm - Sept. 8th, 22nd, October 13th, 27th, November 10th, 22nd, December 8th, 15th.

Where: JUMP Inspire Studio on the 4th floor.

Cost: Six Session Quarterly Pass from October to December $120. 2 sessions monthly pass for $40.

Matthew got his start as a Theater Arts major at Boise State University and later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he studied improv/sketch comedy under Second City alumnus Keli Semelsburger while working with the Carolina Actors Studio Theater. He later moved to L.A.and performed in various national commercials, webseries, repertory theater, children's theater, and sketch comedy troupes while studying film acting with Alex D'Lerma's Cinema Gym of North Hollywood. Upon his return to Idaho in 2012, Matthew started the Actors Workout with a few local film professionals in order to facilitate deliberate on-camera practice and provide guidance based on his experience for filmmakers interested in opportunities to sharpen their skills when they aren’t on set. He is excited to partner with JUMP to expand the Workout’s offerings and is looking forward to helping grow the local film community!
