“The ABCs of Tenure: What All Black Faculty Should Know”
Sat, March 25, 2017, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
African American faculty constitute a small number of faculty members who teach at predominantly White colleges and universities. Although their presence within these institutions is beneficial for a number of reasons, they often face many challenges on various levels. This panel presentation will be made to doctoral students and junior faculty. Four Black faculty from junior to senior rank will discuss issues that are relevant to securing an academic faculty position and the tenure process, namely, politics, the publication process, developing a research agenda submission of the tenure “package” and the review process.
