EBRP is the largest nonprofit dedicated to funding research aimed at treating and ultimately curing EB. EBRP grew out of a collaboration between two organizations—the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation (JGSF) and Heal EB. These organizations were started by two families on separate coasts that shared a singular goal—to find a cure for their sons, Jackson Silver and Michael Fullmer, respectively, and all other children and adults that suffer from EB. Both organizations believed that partnership is the key to a cure, so in 2014 they banded together. To learn more about the EB Research Partnership, please visit their website at www.EBResearch.org.

Why we want to help those with EB:

After first learning about the devasting affects of EB, it was clear this was a cause we wanted to get behind. Getting to know people in the EB community drives our desire to continue providing help in any way toward finding a cure. Here is some general information regarding this group of courageous people.

Children with EB are often born missing large areas of skin leaving gaping wounds that never heal; walking and standing are impaired over time because their toes become fused from repeated injury; the simple joy of holding a crayon to draw becomes impossible because their fingers fuse and contract, turning their young hands into mittens.

For a child with EB, the joyful act of participating in sports - such as Little League or youth soccer - is often out of the question due to the skin tears, blisters and scarring that would result. Falling down on the playground can remove all the skin from their little palms or produce blisters on their knees the size of oranges. Simly put, EB often prevents a child from just being a child.

During a typical day, an individual with EB undergoes a painful bath and bandage change. Given the large areas of skin that can be missing, bathing is a long and excruciating process, with bandage changes lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours.

Currently there is no cure for EB.
